With this series, I'm exploring the concept that less is more. By simplifying the figures to simple strokes, each mark becomes more significant. It is not the details in the figures that are important. The challenge is in the ability to capture the emotion and mood, gestures and movement, from a simple mark, while still using the background to play with shapes, textures and colours. The nuggets of colour add to the playfulness of the composition, as drops of candy sprinkled on the canvas, giving context to the expressive composition of texture, and colour.
